Para Dance Freestyle

  1. a) One athlete or one couple on the dance floor to present their program with music of their choice. b) It is allowed to use one piece of music, different types of music or mixed music.
    c) Music should meet a specific length:
  • The duration of the free dance presentation for Singles is limited to 1:30 min to 2 min.
  • The duration of the free dance presentation for Combi is limited to 2:30 min to 3 min.
  • The duration of the free dance presentation for Duos is limited to 2:00 min to 2:30 min.

Para Dancers will be assessed on the day:

Class 1: Upper body restriction

Class 2: No upper body restriction

Blind/ Vision Impaired:

Standard dances: Waltz, Tango, Quickstep

Latin dances: Samba, Cha-cha-cha, Rumba
New Vogue: Charmaine, La Bomba, Gypsy Tap

All Ability (Special Olympics Athletes):

All Ability Athletes are invited to participate in dance displays of the following dances:

Latin: Rumba and Cha Cha

Standard: Waltz and Tango

New Vogue: Parma Waltz and Tangoette

  1. Competition duration:

The competition duration is anticipated to be 3 hours, from 1 pm to 4 pm.

  1. Final Entry Deadline:

Midnight Sunday 4 May 2025

  1. Eligibility:

All Athletes must fulfil minimum disability criteria.

 

  1. Entries and Registration Process:

All athletes entered in the Perth Para DanceSport Competition must register by the final entry deadline. Para and Ability Dance WA may reject athletes’ entries that do not meet this criterion.

  1. Fees:

There will be a $2 entry fee per event. Spectators are complementary.

Competitors must be members of Para and Ability Dance Australia and DanceSport Australia.

  1. Rules and Regulations:

The competition will be conducted under the joint rules of DanceSport Australia.

  1. Music:

Athletes competing in freestyle must submit their music by email to [email protected] or on a memory stick in a widely used format (WAV, MP3) before 11 May 2025.
